Resources for Rescues to post adoptable animals
Adoption Sites
Pet Adopton Portal
Pet Adoption Portal is a one stop shop for uploading information about your adoptable pets. It then spiders out
to Petfinder, Adopt a pet, Pets911 and many other partner sites. Some include Dog Time, PetBond and others
Petfinder
Petfinder is an on-line, searchable database of animals that need homes. It is also a directory of over
10,000 animal shelters and adoption organizations across the USA, Canada and Mexico. Organizations maintain their own home pages and available pet
database. Petfinder also uploads the information to other partner sites.
Adopt A Pet
Adopt-a-Pet.com (formerly 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com) is a non-profit pet adoption charity that helps
shelters, humane societies, SPCA's, pet rescue groups, and pet adoption agenicies advertise their homeless pets to adopters for free.
Pets911
PETS 911 believes that if you consolidate all the adoption, lost and found, veterinarian/emergency
clinic, fostering, volunteer, shelter/clinic, and health and training information out there and give the public a single and easy place to find
this information; education will substantially increase and euthanasia will decrease. That is our mission.
Swift Adoption Network
We are a US nonprofit organization which provides various nationwide databases, including pets for adoption and stolen
pets. Individuals and organizations are welcome to post as many pet adoptions as you wish.
Animal Social Networking Sites
Catster

Zoo Too
Zootoo was founded by pet lovers like you in response to the massive pet food recall in 2007.
Our primary goal is to allow people to make the most informed decisions for their pets using information provided by real pet lovers like them.
As a "user-generated platform" every pet parent gets a chance to participate in providing valuable information based on personal experience,
thus making it an unbiased and reliable source of information and interaction for the pet community.
myDogspace
Social Network site for Dog Lovers!
Bird Board
Hard to navigate but they do have a section on Bird Rescue - very small section
Petentials
Kind of hard to navigate, was not totally impressed but it does have a section on adoption and rescue
UnitedCats
Not as user friendly as Catster but you can make profiles and somewhere put in that they are adoptable. I have not made
an account to see how rescue friendly they are in making these profiles.
UnitedDogs
Pretty much the same thing as UnitedCats but for Dogs.
PetPop
This site looks interesting. They look to really support rescue organizations and help to list adoptable animals.
MeetFido
They do have a section for adoptions
Pikapet
Social Network site for Animal Lovers! Post pics, videos and all kinds of things.
People Social Networks
Don't forget about the human social networking sites to make accounts to post information about
your organization, events and animals up for adoption. These are the most popular around the US
Twitter
Posts have to be short but they are good for making quick short announcements to have people go to either other pages or to let
people know you have a new adoptable animal on another site, maybe announce an event, etc.
YouTube
So far I have heard that many of the animals that get adopted quickly have videos of them where people can watch their
personality a little before going to actually meet the pet.
Classified Ad Sites (Some are animal related some are general)
I've listed a few and will list more as I find them.
Craigslist
Only post adoptable animals in the pet section. Be prepared to be flagged off and keep trying.
iList
I don't know much about this site.
All City Dogs
